Purity once had a name,
And beauty once had a face.
Spring was once beautiful
Life once had a meaning,
Death was once scary
And once I was safe
Once there was freedom,
And once I could laugh.
Happiness once was alive,
And once I had hope
The lake, half hidden by the trees
Is like my love for her.
Although we know it's there
It's almost hidden from our view
When freedom comes, and peace,
When I can hold her, unafraid
And I thought things will soon be fine,
Once I hoped I will be by her side.
Once I felt loved,
Once I felt wanted,
Once I felt I fitted,
So quickly that died.
Her grace so great,
Her beauty so vast,
All I ever wanted,
Was for it to last
I never told her my love
So it all fell apart,
Now it's all died away,
Happiness, joy, love; all memories.
Now I walk alone in this dark, dark world,
With no light to guide my way
